A MAN being treated as a suspect in a fire that left a young woman and baby in hospital is still too ill to talk to police.
On March 4 a fire broke out in a nail bar in High Street, Hailsham, leaving the 50-year-old man with life threatening injuries.
The 21-year-old woman and five-month-old baby were seriously injured but have since been released from hospital.
The man remains in a serious condition in hospital and police are waiting for his condition to improve before being able to speak to him about the fire.
Detective Inspector Neil Ralph said: "We have ruled out the involvement of anyone else in this incident.
"The information we have so far has led us to treat the man as a suspect in an assault investigation. He has not been arrested as he remains ill in hospital."
