A FORMER scout leader has been charged with historic sex offences against underage boys. 

Taffy Mark Evans, 54, of Old Shoreham Road, Lancing has been charged with 27 offences, 20 that relate to historic child sex offences and seven that relate to indecent photographs of children.

The historic child sex offences are all on boys under the age of 14 and include 16 of indecent assault, one of gross indecency and three of buggery. The offences were committed during the late 1980s and early 1990s. 

The offences were committed in Brighton, Burgess Hill and Crawley as well as Charlwood, Redhill and Swansea, South Wales. 

Evans worked as a scout leader in Reigate in the 1990s and train guard from Redhill and worked on the route to Littlehampton.

He will appear at Crawley Magistrates Court on June 3.
