Police in Brighton have told a woman about the death of her parents in terror-struck Tunisia.

Chief Superintendent Nev Kemp said officers delivered the grim news yesterday.

The woman, who is staying in Brighton after flying into Gatwick, is not from Sussex. Her late parents are also not thought to be from the county.

Mr Kemp confirmed the couple involved was not Janet and John Stocker, from Crawley, who are still unaccounted for in the north African country.

Islamic State claimed responsibility for Friday's attack and identified the gunman by his jihadi pseudonym as 22-year-old Abu Yahya al-Qayrawani.

The killing spree was only brought to an end when the terrorist was shot by security forces who found a bomb on his body. Investigators are currently hunting an accomplice.

It is thought at least 30 of the 37 victims of the massacre were British.
