A MAN is recovering after suffering a heart attack on a train platform.

Fellow commuters jumped to his aid at Wivelsfield Station just after 7.30am on Monday morning.

They carried out CPR to keep him alive while an ambulance crew raced to the scene.

Aged in his 50s, he was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital and is now understood to be in a stable condition.

His family posted on Facebook to say they wanted to thank the people who saved him.

His daughter Kirsty Smith said: "We as a family would like to say a massive thank you to the commuters who helped my dad at the station.

"He suffered a massive heart attack and is very lucky to be here.

"You literally saved his life and we are so grateful, and would love to know who you are.

"Thank you again for helping him. You have no idea what this means to all of us."
