CAROLINE Lucas has gone back to school to find out what pupils would do to tackle the problem of 58 million children worldwide not having an education.
The Green MP for Brighton Pavilion visited Patcham High School as part of the Send My Friends to School campaign, which will involve thousands of young people across the UK.
The initiative is asking young people to step into the shoes of world leaders and to tell their MPs how they would deliver a better future for the world’s children.
In 2000 world leaders promised universal primary education by 2015, but 58 million children are still out of school, and at the current rate of progress it will be 2086 before every child worldwide gets an education.
The MP said: “It’s fantastic to see pupils at Patcham High taking part in this project.
She added: “I’ll be taking the pupil’s messages to Downing Street to remind our Government of the promises we’ve made on ensuring that every child gets to go to school.”
