A robber and a burglar are being hunted by police after walking out of an open prison.

Lee Fudge, 29, and Mark Chatfield, 39, were both last seen at Ford Prison yesterday morning.

Fudge was jailed for life in 2007 for the robbery of a BP garage in Kent and has links to Gravesend and Birchington

Chatfield, 39, was jailed for four years for burglary in August 2014 after he broke into a home in Guildford, Surrey, in December 2013.

He has links to Guildford, Albury and Leatherhead and Farnborough in Hampshire.

Detective Inspector Dave Grover said: "We need the public's help to find both men so they can be returned to custody to serve the remainder of their sentences.

"Neither man was from Sussex but we do not know if they have left the county to go back to where they are from or if they are still here.

"If you see them do not approach them but instead call 999."

Police currently only have a good quality picture of Chatfield available.

Anyone with information should email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101.

Alexander Denny, 26, was serving a sentence for GBH when he absconded last June and assaulted a man in his own home before returning to his cell.

He was jailed for a further 12 years earlier this week.

The prison rose to controversy last year after it was revealed 89 of its prisoners were on the run, including two murderers.
