LOVE conquered all at a boutique jazz festival despite a splash of summer rain and horrific traffic delays.

Performers including Chaka Khan, Van Morrison and Lisa Stansfield wowed thousands of fans at the third running of the laidback festival in the palatial surroundings of Glynde Place.

Festival-goers praised the performances of the those on the bill, including veteran acts and up-and-coming talent.

However, those attending the final day yesterday had to overcome huge traffic delays after the closure of the A27 at Lewes because of fallen power lines.

Fortunately those delays, and a splash of heavy rain during the morning, did not dampen the mood of jazz-lovers.

With the sun bursting through in the afternoon, the three-day festival ended on a high.

Festival-goer Max Alderton, 29, said: “Chaka Khan’s performance was incredible and charged with a powerful energy..I loved it.”

Fellow attendee Barry Sawes, also 29, said: “Rag N Bone Man was incredible, the new Gregory Porter. Big man, big voice, big songs.”
