A BARN caught fire last night and is still smouldering this morning.
Four engines were immediately sent to East Street in Turners Hill at 9pm yesterday to tackle the blaze.
The crews from Turners Hill, Crawley, East Grinstead and Burgess Hill were soon joined by two more engines as the fire raged.
There was a second barn next door to the inferno but crews used hoses on tripods to spray it down and stop the fire radiating on to it.
The operation was scaled back six hours later but one crew remains on scene dousing down the remains of the barn to stop any flare-ups in the morning sun.
