As a 17-year-old, Seann Walsh indulged his dream of becoming a comedian by sitting at the back of Komedia, his favourite club.

He'd go to the North Laine stand-up club alone and sit looking at the stage, dreaming of performing on it. Soon after, it was where his career started.

Twelve years on and the Gardner Street venue was the last stop for his tour 28. Emotions aside, Walsh also had a more tactical reason for wanting to perform at the venue: "I couldn't sell out The Dome."

Raised in Brighton, Walsh, who has appeared on numerous TV shows on the celebrity comedian circuit, knew the audience well and was able to bestow the virtues of the city while lovingly poking fun at it.

"What's happened to London Road?!" he proclaimed about the gentrification of the street. "There's still crack heads but they are on unicycles."

His set wound through the perils of living with his girlfriend Rebecca for the past 18 months and the important lessons he has learnt. Such as: "if you have never loved, you have never truly hated". And "quinoa = rice for c****".

He was supported by one-line expert and double entendre aficionado Mark Simmons, who sent constant ripples of laughter across the audience - as well as a couple of groans. As he loosened up the glimpses of his own personality between the jokes were the real comedy gems.

A evening of rollicking laughter and celebration of home-grown talent.
