For the last 80 years the Southwick Players have forged an enviable reputation as one of the leading amateur theatre groups in Sussex.
That reputation was further extended with the latest production, A Midsummer Night's Dream at The Barn.
The story is well known: a classic farce from the Bard involving mix-ups and comic consequences with a sprinkle of fairy dust as four lovers run away into a mystical forest.
It has all the traits of classic traditional Shakespeare but with a twist of Gatsby, with performers being dressed in full 1920s attire, performing the Charleston as they go about their merry way.
It is an interesting twist - but one that doesn't quite pay off.
What does though is the efforts of the cast who put in some thoroughly professional performances.
Tobias Clay as the impish and mischief-making Puck and Dan Jones as the comical Nick Bottom are among the stand outs.
But this is a real team effort and the result is a production which is not just great to watch but also a whole load of fun.
Here's to another 80 years of the players.
