A BUS named in tribute to a popular ex-councillor and mayor who died last year has been officially unveiled.
Brighton and Hove Bus Company’s spectacular new Beach Bus – named after Brighton and Hove councillor Andy Durr – was launched yesterday.
The much-missed former politician and academic, who died in December aged 70, is fondly remembered for masterminding Brighton’s seafront revival.
The bus celebrates the city’s famously fun-packed seafront and carries Andy Durr’s name on the front.
Andy’s wife Carole Durr said: “I’m so happy Andy is being recognised in this way, and his legacy will live on.
“He would have loved the idea of his name being on a bus dedicated to the seafront – and he’d have been the first to get on it and go down to the beach.”
