THE trial has started in the case against water company Southern Water over an incident in which untreated waste water was allegedly released out to sea.
The company denies three charges of breaching the requirements of environmental permits, relating to the incident in Worthing on September 1, 2012.
The case, which was opened yesterday at Chichester Crown Court, is being brought by the Environment Agency.
The hearing is expected to last between five and seven days.
