The Rattonians’ 25th summer production again comes up with dazzling dance routines, costumes and sets - plus a talented cast throwing itself into every number - in Legally Blonde The Musical.

Director Mark Adams, who co-produces with wife Melanie, and choreographer Jan Lynton keep it fast, fun and frivolous.

They develop a rapport with the audience by bringing out the humour in the lyrics of Laurence O’Keefe and Neil Benjamin, but whose score lacks any memorable show stoppers. A bubbly Emily Davis leads most of the impressive routines as dizzy blonde Ellie, who plans to win back smug boyfriend Warner by following him to Harvard Law School as a student after being dumped.

Laurence Dengate and Damon Willer are outstanding as Warner and Ellie’s new admirer Emmett, while Paula Pout and Kelcie Black also excel as messed up hairdresser Paulette and Ellie’s love rival Vivienne.

Strong support is provided by Sophie Constantinos, playing a fitness icon defended by Ellie on a murder charge, James Bell (Professor Callahan) and Ben Chaffin as macho messenger Kyle. Chloe Shearer, who has performed leading roles with Rattonians, sparkles in a smaller part.

And there’s scene-stealing appearances by Ellie’s chihuahua and an equally cute bulldog.
