Two people have been arrested after a 15-year-old girl was raped.

It happened in a tent pitched on the recreation ground at Hillfield Road, Selsey and was reported to police at 3.49am on Wednesday (29 July) after the victim contacted her family.

A 17-year-old youth and a 21-year-old man, both from Selsey and both known to the victim, were arrested on suspicion of rape shortly before 6am.

Both are currently in custody for questioning.

The recreation ground has been cordoned off while investigations continue.

Police are not linking the attack to an incident in Fontwell Road, Selsey, on Wednesday, 22 July, in which  a 21-year-old woman was flagged down and grabbed by a man as she got out of her car.
