EMPTY mortar shells were found at a recycling centre.
Bognor Regis household waste recycling site was temporarily closed this afternoon while bomb disposal experts investigated the find.
West Sussex County Council said about 20 minutes ago that the site, in Shripney Road, Bognor, had reopened.
A spokesman Tweeted: "Bomb disposal experts investigated and found the mortars to be empty shells."
It is thought the shells were found at around midday.
