A MAN in a wheelchair has been seriously injured after falling onto the tracks at West Worthing station.
It is believed the man fell accidentally and has been injured by the fall rather than by a train.
Ambulance services were called shortly before 4pm and the man is being taken to hospital in a serious condition.
A British Transport Police spokesman said the man "accidentally came to be on the tracks."
She added: “Our officers were called to West Worthing rail station on Thursday, 30 July, to reports of a person on the tracks.
“The call came into police shortly before 4pm.
“Officers from BTP and paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene."
Train services have been disrupted.
Brighton and Hove Buses and Stagecoach 700 are acccepting Southern Rail tickets between Brighton and Shoreham until further notice.
