CRICKETERS are hoping a special event will provide some extra cover to children in Sri Lanka.
Robert Easton has organised a festival at Brighton College’s Jubilee Ground, in East Brighton Park, where a national newspaper will take on two pub teams and old college students.
The event will raise money for charity Extra Cover, which helps some of the most vulnerable children in Sri Lanka.
Mr Easton said: “I have just returned from a month in the country where 42 Brighton College pupils have been teaching English at some 20 schools.
“We provide daily food - currently a quarter of a million meals a year - ensure their water is clean and fresh and, amongst other things, pay for toilets, shoes, uniforms, playground equipment and educational resources.
“We have also started what might well be the first special education needs units in a country that often considers learning disability to be a punishment for sins in a former life.”
The first ball will be bowled at 11am on Sunday. And with no Ashes to watch, why not head down?
