While all Pride goers with park tickets will already be plotting how to get the best position for Fatboy Slim and the Human League, Neil Vowles looks at some of the other treats in store as the Pride party begins. 

1) Pride Parade King’s Road 11am Saturday Why not see the Pride Parade from a different viewpoint this year as the new route extends back into Hove.

2) Legends Cabaret Tent at Preston Park from 2pm Saturday Foul-mouthed jokes, gay anthems and a little bit of politics thrown in for good measure, the cabaret tent is everything you would expect from Pride...and more.

3) Pride Street Party at The Marlborough Theatre in Prince's Street from 6pm Saturday This much-loved venue’s annual party has got bigger and better this year featuring all manner of flamboyant performers.

4) LGBTQ Museum Trail Brighton Museum 10am – 5pm Saturday and Sunday If you need a break from all the face paint and tiny shorts, then follow this hi-tech tour around ten objects with a story to tell.

5) Ruby Rose Women’s Dance Tent at Preston Park on Saturday Model, DJ and star of hit TV show Orange Is The New Black, Ruby Rose is sure to be one of the park’s stars on everyone’s must-see list.

6) Freemasons Official Pride Beach Party at Ohso Social in King’s Road from 9pm If you don’t catch the veteran DJ duo in the park, they will be partying until late as headliners of this beachside party.

7) Family Diversity Area at Preston Park on Saturday Got a little one in tow then head to the alcohol free safe space to keep the kiddies busy with art activities, face painting, kids karaoke, sports and much more.

8) Border Force at Corn Exchange in Church Street 9pm to 3am Queer performers Duckie return to Brighton for another immersive experience this time recreating a nightclub with a serious message on freedom of movement and xenophobia.

9) FOMO at Revenge in Old Steine from 10pm Sunday Revenge is one of the iconic Pride venues (and with the queues to prove it) although maybe Brighton will be all partied out by the time this neon rave kicks off. But don’t bet on it.

10) A Celebration of Love and Life in New Steine Gardens 9pm Sunday After all the partying of a hectic weekend, there is no better way to wind down but with this solemn and heartfelt memorial.
