A THIRD man has been arrested in connection with the seizure of around three kilos of cocaine aboard a yacht in Brighton Marina.

National Crime Agency officers seized around £480,000 worth of the drug from the Tacabanda II yacht on Monday, July 20.

They arrested and bailed a St Lucian national aged 62 and a 29-year-old man from Grenada, on suspicion of drug smuggling.

This morning a 33-year-old man from London was detained as he arrived at Gatwick and was also arrested on the suspicion of conspiring to import cocaine.

He has been bailed pending further enquiries until a date in November, the NCA said this morning.

The NCA believes the yacht was sailed to Brighton from the Caribbean.

Steve McIntyre, senior investigator for the National Crime Agency, said: “Forensic analysis of the drugs seized has yet to be carried out, but the likelihood is it is cocaine of a very high purity.

“Our investigations are continuing, and we’d appeal to anyone who saw any kind of suspicious activity at the marina to come forward and let us know.

“Working with our Border Force colleagues we are determined to disrupt the organised crime networks involved in smuggling Class A drugs into the UK.”

Anyone with information about suspicious or unusual activity in ports or harbours can report it to their local police by dialling 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 quoting ‘Kraken’.
