Shoppers across Sussex queued for hours today to try to snap up a must-have designer item.
Fashion-conscious consumers waited at Sainsbury's stores across the county to try to grab an I'm not a Plastic Bag'.
The bags, which are a collaboration between Anya Hindmarch, global social change movement We Are What We Do and the creative agency Antidote, have been in demand after celebrities like Keira Knightley were spotted carrying them.
The aim of the bag is to bring the issue of re-usable bags to the public consciousness.
With only 20,000 available across the country and a price tag of £5 they sold out fast.
Journalist Petrina Hope, 27, of Worthing, queued at the Sainsbury's at Lyons Farm, Worthing, but left empty-handed.
She said: "I really wanted one of those bags. They are good for the environment and they look good too. I got there at about 8am but people had been there from 4am. And there were only about 30 in store so they had gone when I got there. I couldn't believe it."
Customers were only allowed to buy one bag each.
Gwyn Burr, Sainsbury's Customer Director, said: "The Anya Hindmarch bag is one of the many ways that we are offering our customers the chance to be greener."
