The second woman to die as a result of a car crash on a stretch of road known as "death mile" was a student at Brighton University.

The as yet unnamed 22-year-old, originally from Cirencester in Gloucestershire, was driving a Renault Clio on the A27 on Tuesday when she was involved in a pile-up with three cars and a lorry.

She had been airlifted to Eastbourne District Hospital while a 20-year-old female passenger in a Fiat Seicento died at the scene.

A 22-year-old man from Worthing was arrested in connection with causing death by dangerous driving and subsequently bailed pending further enquiries.
