A TEENAGER has been arrested and bailed on suspicion of rape.

The 19-year-old Horsham man was arrested yesterday in connection with the attack on Sunday, August 16.

A 22-year old woman was raped on a footpath near St Mary's Church in Horsham.

After being interviewed the teenager was released on police bail until October 20 while enquiries continue.

Police are not linking this incident to any other offences in the Horsham area.

Detective Sergeant Jon Robeson said police were after witnesses who saw a man and woman walking from Piries bar along East Street and down The Causeway past St Mary's Church, to a footpath which goes off to the left.

He said: "We are grateful for the information so far received from the public but we still seek more witnesses.

"In particular we would like to speak to a group of men who we believe spoke to the woman after she was assaulted."
