SCOOTER rider Richard Munn has travelled the length of the country to raise money for charity.

Mr Munn, 44, from Uckfield, rode his 1960 Lambretta from John O’Groats to Lands End in support of the Friends of Sussex Hospices.

His mother Pauline McKenzie died at St Wilfrid’s Hospice in Eastbourne five years ago.

Mr Munn set off at midday last Saturday and covered the 874-mile distance in just 24 hours and 40 minutes.

He said: “It has been an amazing and very emotional journey, from the very start of planning it and throughout the ride itself. I have been bowled over by everyone’s generosity and support.”

“I loved my mum very much. The last weeks of her life were spent in the care of St Wilfrid’s, whose dedication, care and support for the whole family was unsurpassable.”

Mr Munn’s Justgiving page has raised £2,435 so far and people can support him by visiting https://www.justgiving.com/MungoandHenry/.

The Friends of Sussex Hospices champions and supports the work of all 12 hospice care providers that serve the adults and children of Sussex.

Run entirely by volunteers, the charity has distributed £1.3 million since it was founded in 1995.
