THESE trendy brewers certainly aren’t flogging a dead horse by opening up their first pub in Sussex with a novel way of getting customers in.

Craft beer company BrewDog are running a taxidermy taxi service to celebrate the launch of their Brighton bar which opens today [Friday].

The Scottish firm is offering customers in search of a stiff drink a macabre twist on the “quintessentially” British beach donkey ride this bank holiday weekend by pulling customers along on a stuffed jenny.

The brewers say the opening of the pub in Grand Parade, Brighton, marks the “arrival of the craft beer revolution on Brighton shores”.

The move to the city is the latest step in the growth of the firm which is the fastest-growing food and drinks company in the UK over the past three years.

The bar will be the brewers' 31st worldwide since their first opening in 2010 and joins similar pubs in Tokyo, Barcelona, Florence and Sao Paulo.

Further establishments in London, Glasgow, Rome, Berlin and Brussels will follow later this year – funded in part by record-breaking crowdfunding scheme Equity for Punks which launched its fourth round in April this year and raised £5million in three weeks.

The previous occupant Blind Tiger closed in May last year following a dispute with Brighton and Hove City Council over noise complaints.

News of Brewdog’s interest in the venue was first announced in September.

The 120 capacity venue will have 30 beers on tap including BrewDog favourites iPunk IPA, Dead Pony Club, Jackhammer and Five AM Red Ale, small batch brews and a selection of guest and international beers.

Drinkers can be brought directly to the door of the new bar with the dead donkey taxi service by tweeting to @BrewDogBrighton and using #TaxidermyTaxi over the bank holiday weekend.

Co-founder James Watt said: “We’ve long been looking to open a beer mecca in Brighton, it’s a city with a cool, independent vibe and a growing craft beer scene, and we want to offer craft beer fans in the city something they haven’t seen before.

“Brighton’s famous for its rich, diverse and party-loving crowds, and with 30 draft beers to choose from, there’s a perfect match for everybody and plenty of opportunity to be polyamorous with your choice of brew.”
