PSYCHEDELIC ice cream will meet day-glo disco dancing at one of the more experimental events of this weekend’s food festival.

Things will be getting wild, wacky and seriously tasty for the Boho Disco, part of the Brighton and Hove Food and Drink Festival on Hove Lawns.

Part of the festival’s Sussex and The World Weekend, Boho Disco is a psychedelic ice cream experience featuring colour-changing, day-glo and experiential gelatos and granitas, alongside performances from cabaret star Cherry Shakewell, dance music and hands-on day-glo face-painting.

Seb Cole from Boho Gelato will be concocting the weird and wonderful ice creams, granitas for kids and punchy granita cocktails for adults.

Booze comes courtesy of Sussex’s Blackdown Artisan Spirits.

Children are welcome to Boho Disco from noon until 6pm tomorrow, to Bank Holiday Monday, with adult session from 6-8pm tomorrow and Sunday.

Profits will be donated to Rockinghorse – the official fundraiser for Brighton’s Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital and Trevor Mann Baby Unit.

Tickets for Boho Disco (£5 children’s daytime sessions, £12 for adult evening sessions) are available from www.brightonfoodfestival.com.

Boho Disco is part of the food festival’s Sussex and The World Weekend on Hove Lawns, with free entry to scores of local and international food and hospitality stallholders.

A live cookery show tomorrow will feature acclaimed chefs including Douglas McMaster of Silo, Michelin starred Matt Gillan of The Pass, Dave Mothersill of The Salt Room, Alun Sperring of The Chilli Pickle, Sam Lambert and Josh Kitson of 64 Degrees, Andrew Mackenzie of Drakes) and Isaac Copeland of Isaac At.

There will be proper tea, dancing and cocktails courtesy of vintage tearoom Metrodeco on Sunday.

Loose leaf will be served with cakes and scones as well as tea cocktails, while dancers will be able to learn some classic dances such as the Charleston and Lindyhop at free drop-in classes throughout the afternoon.
