Crawley made it three clean sheets on the trot but they could not break down Wycombe Wanderers in a goalless draw at the Checkatrade.com Stadium.

Helped by three good saves from Freddie Woodman, the Reds looked resilient at the back but they could not make the most of some threatening positions going forward.

In a first half littered by fouls, it was the visitors who threatened first with Sam Wood creeping in unmarked to meet Garry Thompson’s cross but hooking his shot wide from a great position.

The pace of Gwion Edwards and Lewis Young stretched Wycombe more and more as the half went on but a breakthrough would not come.

Roarie Deacon’s fiercely driven free-kick from the edge of the area was well blocked by Wood, then Edwards flashed a shot across goal.

But Crawley needed a double save from England under-19 goalkeeper Woodman on 36 minutes to keep the game goalless at half-time, first saving Thompson’s shot from distance and then excelling himself to keep out Aaron Amadi-Holloway’s prodded follow-up from close range.

The Reds were forced into a change before half-time as Luke Rooney replaced Joe McNerney, with Jimmy Smith going to right-back.

Woodman came to Crawley’s rescue again in the opening minute of the second half, beating away a shot from Amadi-Holloway.

At the other end a Young header was blocked for a corner, then Simon Walton’s shot was tipped around a post by goalkeeper Matt Ingram.

Young had another chance on 61 minutes but delayed his shot before firing wide, then Christian Scales had a low shot held by Ingram.

A goal would not come for the host, Edwards powering into the box but was thwarted by Ingram with 16 minutes remaining.

Then on 81 minutes Young’s low shot was held by Ingram.

Their profligacy was evident again a minute from time when Deacon got clear of the defence but Ingram saved again.

Crawley could only name five substitutes following the departures to Whitehawk of Shamir Fenelon, on loan, and Belgian left-back Bryan van den Bogaert on a permanent basis following his release by the Reds.
