FUNDRAISING efforts for the families of those killed in the airshow disaster have raised thousands of pounds.

Since the crash at Shoreham Airshow members of the public have banded together to help raise money for those who have lost loved ones.

An official charity fund has also been set up by Adur, Worthing, Brighton and Hove and West Sussex councils with the Sussex Community Foundation.

The official Shoreham Airshow fund has now raised more than £16,000 for the families of the 11 people killed when the Hawker Hunter crashed on to the A27.

A GoFundMe webpage has has raised more than £1,000 for motorcyclist Mark Trussler, after his fiancee announced his death.

Worthing United Football Club are aiming to raise £4,000 been raising money for the families of their players Matt Grimstone and Jacob Schilt who were killed in the crash.

A separate campaign has now raised more than £1,000 to get a memorial bench for Mr Schilt.

Money is also being raised in honour of Matt Jones with the GoFundMe page receiving £5,000 for the family to help them cover funeral costs.
