A MAN has been charged with murdering a 20-year-old woman known to him.

Paul Withers, 21, from Bexhill, is accused of killing Lauren Masters at her flat in Sutherland Avenue, Bexhill.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance at the flat at 1.35pm on Friday.

A Sussex Police spokesman said Ms Masters died from a stab wound at the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Detective Chief Inspector Mike Ashcroft, of the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team, said: "We are appealing to anyone who heard any disturbance or saw anything suspicious around this time on Friday in Sutherland Avenue or the surrounding area to contact police.

"Also we would like to hear from anyone who has any other information which could assist this investigation."

Mr Masters is due to appear at Brighton Magistrates' Court today (Monday), police said.
