COUNCIL officials say it’s too soon to decide how the lives of 11 people killed in the Shoreham Airshow disaster should be remembered permanently.
Adur and Worthing councils along with West Sussex County Council and Sussex Police have moved quickly to quash rumours published by BBC Sussex that a memorial garden on Adur Recreation Ground would be created to mark the tragedy.
A number of suggestions have already been made how to mark the devastating crash including renaming Shoreham Tollbridge and creating a roadside memorial on the A27.
The authorities said a decision would be made in due course after discussions with victims’ relatives.
A statement issued in the last few minutes reads: “Following the Shoreham Air Show tragedy, early discussions have begun about the possibility of creating a fitting memorial.
“It is far too early to say what form that might take and obviously no decision would be made without the full consultation and support of the families who have lost loved ones.”
