A TEENAGER has taken her campaign calling for better access to mental health services for young people to Downing Street.

Annie Hart, 19, experienced mental health problems when she was younger and believes she would have coped better if she had got the treatment she needed at an earlier stage.

She was joined by supporters including MPs and people from the charity YoungMinds as she presented a petition to 10 Downing Street.

Ms Hart, who lives near Horsham, said: “I set up my petition because I passionately believe in the right of all young people to get the support they need, when they need it. “Young people’s mental health services have been struggling for years with cuts and are under so much pressure.

“I want the Prime Minister to commit to stop cutting services and to make sure they are available to all young people when they need them.”

YoungMinds chief executive Sarah Brennan said: “Mental health services for young people have to improve, and Annie’s campaigning work has added thousands of voices to that call.”
