One of Brighton and Hove's longest serving councillors has lost his seat to the Tories.

Labour's Brian Fitch lost his seat in Hangleton and Knoll Ward after more than 30 years on the council.

Tory councillor Dawn Barnett retained her seat and the other two places were taken by Conservative candidates David Smart and Tony Janio.

It will be the first time in a generation that someone from the Fitch family has not served on the council in Brighton and Hove.

Mr Fitch's father Stan was a long-serving and well respected councillor. His Uncle Reg also served on the council.
