PRODUCER, singer-songwriter and beatboxer Roman Scott was spotted at an open mic session last October.
Since then his first self-titled EP, released in July, has topped the Spotify viral top 50, with his track Hold This Down receiving more than 300,000 plays.
Having toured across Europe this summer he returned home to Brighton for a show last week at The Haunt.
“I started writing songs from the start of 2014. I found the artist Chet Faker and he pretty much set me off with writing and wanting to become my own artist.
“I have been heavily driven by electronic music. I'd say to sum my sound up its electronic, jazz with a splash of gypsy blood.
“I played to a couple of thousand people at The Indigo 02 with a band. Solo I've just finished a UK tour playing venues such as The Deaf Institute in Manchester, Stereo in Glasgow, XOYO in London and some other great places!
“I spent about eight months in total making the EP, but I scrapped half of it as I wasn't happy. It ended up taking twice as long. I've got a live EP I'm going to focus on now I'm back from B. Dolan's Kill The Wolf tour and then I'm going to be focusing on another fully produced EP, possibly working with another producer.
I started experimenting with beatboxing in my music at the same time I started writing and playing keys. I was gobsmacked to top the Spotify viral charts. When I saw it at 40k I thought I was looking at the wrong thing or it was a mistake! When that viral thing happened it gave me the whibblies.”
