TWO people had to be rescued after getting cut off by the tide.
The young man and woman were walking along the beach near Splash Point in Seaford when they realised they were cut off.
A Newhaven lifeboat crew was called by the Coastguard to race to their aid just before 6pm last night.
The couple were picked up and given over to a coastguard rescue team on a nearby beach.
They were cold and wet but uninjured.
Elsewhere at about the same time, an eight-metre yacht with two people onboard arrived in Littlehampton harbour towed by a lifeboat crew from Selsey after breaking down at sea.
