TWO women have been banned from behaving anti-socially and harassing the public in a landmark injunction.

Police in Eastbourne have secured their first civil injunction under the new anti-social behaviour laws from Eastbourne County Court against Lianne Carson and Jodie King.

This means officers have the powers to arrest them for the next two years if they breach the conditions of the injunction.

Carson, 28, of Jevington Gardens, Eastbourne, and King, 34, of Rockhurst Drive, Eastbourne, are banned from causing alarm, harassment and distress to anyone not of the same household;

being drunk and disorderly in any public place; playing music so loudly that it is audible outside any premises in which they are living or visiting; being in possession of an open vessel containing alcohol in any public place; entering any premises or property under the auspices of the retail business crime group and using the emergency services number unless in the case of a genuine emergency.

PC Ginny Jupp said: "This is the first of its kind in Eastbourne under the new Anti-Social Behaviour and Crime Act 2014. These two women have caused so much upset to residents where they lived, and again in and around the town centre.

"With evidence from partner agencies we were able to successfully obtain these injunctions which also have the power of arrest. This means any breaches can be dealt with robustly and will not be tolerated."
