AN AMBULANCE on blue lights carrying a patient crashed into a car leaving the driver needing transporting to hospital.
The collision happened at 12.43pm on the A259 Brighton Road in Lancing at the junction with Western Road which was closed southbound and the eastbound carriageway of Brighton Road from Seamill Park Avenue, Lancing was also closed.
The ambulance crew and patient were unhurt, and the patient was transferred to another ambulance called to the scene.
It was initially feared an elderly woman driving the car had suffered potentially serious injuries, but having received treatment her injuries are now described as minor.
She was also been taken to hospital and the police stood down at 2.25pm.
