THINGS got a little racy as thousands of students rushed to snap up bargains at a shopping centre "lock-in".

Dancers from Proud Cabaret entertained punters last night as 14,000 people passed through the doors of Churchill Square Shopping Centre in Brighton.

Performing in the window of Ann Summers on Western Road, staff joined in the fun serving jelly shots drinks.

The dancers turned heads with burlesque performances in the shop window, with their risqué outfits.

They titillated with plenty of excitement for the three and a half hour shopping bonanza as they put on a show for people walking by on one of Brighton’s busiest shopping streets.

The lock-in was an exclusive event for students to kick off the start of the university term

Shops stay open late and offer slashed prices to the newly arrived students at the city’s two universities.

Shoppers queued out of the door of shop doors as students tried to bag the bargains with Urban Outfitters and Topshop being the big successes as fashionistas bided their time to get their hands on the latest styles.

Other packed out stores included Office, the Original Levi's Store, Schuh, Hollister and Pull and Bear.

As well as snapping up the deals shoppers were treated to DJ sets provided by seafront nightclub Coalition.

Mark Buchanan Smith, shopping centre director said: “The 2015 Student Lock In was a phenomenal success.

“We had really good attendance and shoppers were queuing round the block to make purchases.

“There was also a great atmosphere in the centre with DJs and lots of entertainment on offer.”

A spokesman for Ann Summers said: “We held a student lock- in event and collaborated with a local burlesque group to show off our stunning new collections, whist allowing students to take advantage of some amazing savings.”
