POLICE are becoming increasingly concerned about the whereabouts of a depressed man after a helicopter search could not locate him.

The force are still trying to trace 50-year-old Martin Pepperell, who was reported missing from his home in Pelham Square, Brighton, at 4.30pm on Thursday.

He is described as white, 6'2", of heavy build and has short brown hair.

Enquiries had led to a search for Mr Pepperell being concentrated in the Seaford Head area overnight, with officers being supported by coastguards and a police helicopter.

This has brought no result and and enquiries are continuing.

A police spokesman said: "Martin has been depressed recently so we are naturally concerned for his welfare.

"If you have seen him or know where he is, please contact us right away via 101 or 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 1060 of 08/10."
