The Hundred Watt Club was a cheeky explosion of burlesque and cabaret acts at The Old Market.

The line-up was nicely balanced with a variety of circus, striptease and music as host Elsie Diamond held a strong rapport with the audience with stunning, dramatic outfits and a sexy drawl.

Elliot Mason’s songs were a highlight, with energetic kooky choreography and brilliant comic lyrics which explored everyday absurdities. His persona was in equal parts charming and surprising as he teased the audience encouraging us to sing along.

Abigail Collins impressed the audience with her outlandish character Peggy Sued and hula hooping feats. The contrast between her erratic comic material and her incredible control of the hoops was delightful.

The performers worked hard to bring the audience together and create a cabaret club atmosphere in the big main space at The Old Market. A mixture of cabaret seating with a raked block of seating at the back meant that the acts had to work hard to push the performances out to the seated audience. More tables and chairs in the cabaret section would help this issue.

The Hundred Watt Club provided a great night out, full of glitter and giggles.
