AN attacker who punched a man in the face and broke his eye socket faces nearly two years in prison and deportation.
Mohammed Abusetta attacked a 27-year-old man from Kent in an altercation on June 10 on Kingsway near the West Pier in Brighton at around 6pm.
The 26-year-old, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm. He pleaded guilty at court on August 28 and was handed a 21 month prison sentence at Lewes Crown Court on October 5.
Detective constable Tom Coll said: "Abusetta broke the victim's eye socket after a minor verbal altercation on the seafront. This level of violence is completely unacceptable and pleased that he has been punished for his actions."
Sussex Police said Abusetta faces deportation but did not say when this is likely to happen, or his country of origin.
