A STANDOFF and shouting match erupted between drivers as paramedics were trying to get past to take a patient to hospital.

The video was shared on Facebook yesterday which captures the dispute in Tongdean Lane, Brighton.

The vocal row between the drivers and paramedics broke out as there appears to be a showdown between a white BMW and another vehicle passing under the railway bridge.

The paramedic says “you are obstructing a patient getting to hospital” to which one of the drivers responds “I am not”.

The dispute boils over as one of the ambulance crew loudly tells the man “get in your car and move”.

The driver of the BMW has since told The Argus: "In hindsight maybe I should have just reversed" following the stand off with the paramedics.

A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said they could not currently comment on the specifics of the incident without looking into it further.

However he urged drivers to listen to paramedics and make sure they do not obstruct ambulances.
