AN overturned bin lorry was abandoned on a road after a suspected joy ride incident.
A member of the public contacted Sussex Police at 4.25am this morning after coming across the overturned lorry in Falmer Road, Woodingdean.
It is believed the truck was stolen from a depot in Newhaven and then abandoned shortly before it was spotted by a member of the public.
The Falmer Road remained closed between Falmer and the junction with Bexhill Road in Woodingdean for the whole morning while the large vehicle was removed.
TIt re-opened at around 2pm but traffic remains very slow in the area and the closure has caused major traffic jams along Bear Road and Lewes Road in Brighton.
Two men are currently in police custody being questioned on suspicion of theft.
