BRIGHTON and Hove will be taking part in a minute's silence for Paris at 11am.

Flags will be flying at half mast at council buildings across the city as a mark of respect for the victims of the Paris massacre.

Councillor Warren Morgan, leader of the council, said: “Brighton & Hove stands in solidarity with Paris. We send our deepest sympathy to all those who have died or been injured in these appalling attacks. On behalf of the city, we also reach out to all those around the world to show solidarity. Wherever it takes place, violence against innocent people will not be tolerated. As well as our neighbours in France, we also stand in unity with all nations where recent terror attacks have taken place.

“While there is no intelligence to link the Paris attacks to the UK, Sussex Police and Brighton & Hove City Council are asking all residents to report any suspicious behaviour or activity immediately by calling the confidential anti-terrorist hotline on 0800 789 321 or 999 in an emergency.”

Hastings Mayor Bruce Dowling will lead a civic party from the town hall at around 10.55am to observe the silence in Queen’s Square, Priory Meadow.
