DEVELOPERS have launched an app that aims to help drivers find a parking space.

The brains behind AppyParking have been working with Brighton and Hove City Council on the free-to-download app.

Those behind it say it marks the next step in their mission to "revolutionise parking in the UK".

AppyParking has worked with the council to so that motorists can see all the on-street and off-street parking spaces available.

The app includes controlled parking zones, car parks, motorbike bays, disabled bays and even electric bays.

To help users from getting stung by fines, the app functions in real-time, marking zones that are available to use in green with restricted areas in red.

In just a few taps, the developers claim that residents can see the “nearest and cheapest” parking spaces available to them.

AppyParking’s chief executive Dan Hubert said: “We’re thrilled to be working with Brighton and Hove City Council in order to provide our free app to the city’s residents.

"We truly have a great user community who are always letting us know what features or content they would like to see next. "Our Brighton launch really is an important landmark in our mission to take the pain out of parking across the UK.”

Charles Field, parking strategy manager of Brighton and Hove City Council, added: “We have worked hard with AppyParking to show all the parking regulations clearly and quickly so that the motorist can find the best parking space for them.”

Available now on both iOS and Android, AppyParking uses in-app navigation to guide them to the space.

Following the success of winning the People's Choice Award as part of Virgin Media Business's Pitch To Rich scheme, AppyParking has been named as one of Evening Standard’s Top Travel Apps for Londoners (alongside Uber and Citymapper) and was selected by the Mayor of London to join him on a trade mission to Israel.
