A 21-YEAR-OLD has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving following a crash that killed two of his best friends.

Kyle Witney, of Finches Lane, Lindfield, was driving a BMW that hit a tree and flipped onto its roof near Handcross on December 17.

Matt Preece, 21, from Lindfield, and Marc Martin, 22, a father-of-two from Haywards Heath, were passengers in the car and died from their injuries in hospital.

Witney was also taken to hospital seriously injured but appeared in court today (Friday) where he pleaded guilty to two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.

He was released on bail to be sentenced on January 15.

In the aftermath of the crash Witney posted a message on Facebook expressing his devastation about what had happened.

He said: “I never ever wanted this to happen. Matt Preece and Marc Martin were both the older brothers I never had.

"I looked up to them both more than anything – Marc for being a brilliant father and still managing to hold down a job and I loved Matt to bits.

"He was amazing. All I had to do was look at him a certain way and he knew if something was wrong.”
