INTRUDERS made off with a safe, cash, and legal documents in an "organised and pre-planned" raid on a popular seaside cafe.
The crooks broke into Carats Cafe in Basin Road South sometime between 4pm on Wednesday 18 November and 4.10am on Thursday 19 November.
A metal safe approximately 2ft by 2ft was removed from a rear kitchen storage area. This contained £1,187 along with legal documents giving personal details.
Further cash was taken from two tills and another smaller safe. Considerable damage was caused to gain entry to the cafe as the burglars bodily removed a glass pane from its frame.
PC David Slade said: "This burglary appeared to be organised and pre-planned. There was a considerable impact to their business as a result.
"The cafe is a very popular place for the local community, workers or people just enjoying the beach. If anyone saw anything suspicious or odd in the days leading up to this, or have just heard something, let us know."
Any witness or anyone with information is asked to email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting serial 0163 of 19/11.
