A THIRTY year Sussex Police veteran has been jailed after a string of historic sex offences against a teenage girl.
Thomas John Rees, 77, of Harting Rd, Wick, was sentenced to a total of two and half years at Hove Crown Court on November 23.
He had been found guilty on 10 November, after a trial at Hove Crown Court, of four offences of indecent assault and an offence of causing actual bodily harm, to a girl known to him, aged between 11 and 15, all between 1971 and 1975 in Haywards Heath.
He is also to be a registered sex offender indefinitely.
Rees retired in 1992 as a Detective Superintendent in Sussex Police after 30 years service. The offences are unconnected with his employment.
The sentence follows an investigation by West Sussex detectives after the victim came forward to the police for the first time in 2012.
