A RARE dinosaur's skeleton will go under the hammer today. [25/11]

The juvenile Allosaurus will be sold in an evolution auction in Billingshurst by Summers Place Auctions.

The auction house is an authority on natural history since its first sale nearly 30 years ago.

The Allosaurus is a type of large theropod dinosaur that lived 155 to 150 million years ago during the late Jurassic period. The name "Allosaurus" means "different lizard". The first fossil remains discovered were described in 1877 by paleontologist Othniel Charles Marsh, and it became known as Antrodemus. As one of the first well-known theropod dinosaurs, the Allosaurus has been a top feature in several films and documentaries about prehistoric life.
