TWO children are celebrating after tying for first place in a colouring competition organised by the Sussex Wildlife Trust.

Matilda Chant, six, from Heene Way, Worthing, and Hayden Furner, eight, from Potters Lane, Lewes, both wowed the judges with their colourful pictures of Stanley the Snail.

They each won a ceramic badger made by local sculptor Helen Hodson, for their classroom nature tables.

As an added bonus, T-shirt manufacturers Rapanui, who support the work of the charity, used both children’s designs in their range of t-shirts.

Both Matilda and Hayden are members of Wildlife Watch, the trust’s junior members club).

Matilda is a pupil at Heene CE Primary School in Worthing and Hayden attends Western Road County Primary School in Lewes.
