THE stepfather of glamour model Katie Price has been charged with the rape of a 51-year-old woman in the street.

Paul Price, of North Drive, Angmering, is due to appear at Worthing Magistrates Court on January 5.

The 52-year-old is charged with raping a 51-year old woman between 1am and 1.30am on March 22 between Eirene Road and George V Avenue in Worthing.

Ms Price, who was born in Brighton and lives in Sussex, took her stepfather's name after he married her mother Amy in 1988.

On her official website she has told how he has been an important part of her life:

She wrote: "First of all I want to say how important family is… they’re always there for you. My family has always been so supportive, especially with my career and with my own kids. They have all helped me in one way or another and I know I can rely on them again and again.

"My mum, Amy, is a great mum. She knows me back to front and she loves everything about me. She’s always supportive, especially when it comes to Harvey. I really would be lost if it wasn’t for my mum.

"Paul, my stepdad, became part of my life when I was just a little girl aged six.

"He has supported me all along and I feel as though, basically, he’s my real Dad."

The former glamour model, who went to Patcham High School, was recently named as an outsider to replace Jeremy Clarkson as host of Top Gear before the role went to DJ Chris Evans.

The 37-year-old has not commented on her stepdad, reported to be a fence erector, following his charge of rape.

The model has been in the news this week after complimenting her ex-husband Peter Andre, saying he’s “really good” on Strictly Come Dancing.

Talking to Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid on Good Morning Britain, the reality TV star revealed her family had been watching his performances on the BBC’s popular ballroom series.

The 37-year-old fell in love with Peter when they were both contestants on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! in 2004.
