THIS stunning action shot of a lifeboat team in action has won a royal seal of approval.
Sussex nautical photojournalist John Periam has been highly commended for his image of the Shoreham lifeboat’s dramatic launching in the inaugural Out of the Blue photographic competition by Prince Charles’ sustainability charity.
The Felpham photographer’s image was chosen from thousands of entries submitted from around the Commonwealth in seven categories.
His winning image in The People and Oceans section is currently on display along with other finalists at the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Malta.
The image also features in a limited edition exhibition book to be presented to all national leaders attending.
Mr Periam, who is currently involved in writing the book on The History of Shoreham Harbour Lifeboat commissioned by the RNLI, said: “It is a great honour to reach this stage in such an important photographic competition.
“It can only help the RNLI in promoting the excellent work that their crews do around our UK coastline in saving those in trouble at sea.”
